MISSION: Bringing Joy

We don't always stop to think about the astounding experience of being here. Of being together. Of being alive. Or maybe we forget. My work in cut paper is a physical presence, a stand, a reminder, of the love and inspiration of this life. 

 

Special places... Memorable nights... A perfect day... Special seasons... A moment in time.... Who was there? What did you see? How did you feel? Can you remember?

Think about this. What is it that you love? What gives you inspiration? What causes you to rise up? To feel calm? To remember your inner strength? What helps you remember?

 

My proudest accomplishment as an artist is that my work hangs in the homes of several close friends and family members. It's also been exhibited internationally.

MEDIUM: Cut Paper

I am forever inspired by Henri Matisse's famous paper cutouts, as well as Romare Beardon's collage work. I use the hard edges of cut paper, blocks and shapes of solid color, as a means of simplification. I try to remove what is extra, to get to the purest essence of my subject. What is most meaningful to me is connection. Like a memory, the colors are heightened, sharpened.
